Industrial-Organizational Psychology

Dr. Maren Wright Voss is an organizational scientist creating workplaces with a focus on people at the forefront of business and industry. Her research explores how leadership, policy, and culture shape human flourishing at work. Drawing on over 15 years in organizational psychology and workforce development programming, she designs evidence-based strategies that align business outcomes with employee well-being. Voss is a chief happiness advisor in the technology sector, an instructor in worker well-being at Harvard Extension School, a visiting scholar at the Queen's Business School at Queen's University, Belfast, and a Fulbright specialist. She formerly led studies on aging worker thriving at Harvard's Center for Work, Health, and Well-being. As faculty at Utah State University, her workforce development leadership built scalable training systems, hybrid learning programs, and well-being initiatives that built organizational capacity for statewide industry with funding from the National Institutes of Health. An interdisciplinary scholar, she bridges behavioral science, occupational health, and leadership studies to help organizations rethink the nature of performance and belonging. Her work examines the evolution of work and application of measurement science to work and well-being. Her multi-factorial research uncovers the complex relationships among people, purpose, and productivity across the lifespan. She has authored more than 50 articles published in top journals and business magazines and advised leaders in industry. Voss is passionate about developing leaders who understand that managing people begins with cultivating the conditions for human flourishing—where trust, safety, and engagement drive both individual vitality and organizational success.
