Future Foreign Policy and Defense Strategy

Derek S. Reveron is Lecturer in Extension at Harvard University and faculty affiliate at the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs. At Harvard, he co-teaches applied strategy and problem-solving, helping students connect academic insights to real-world national security challenges. His scholarship bridges technology and policy, with a particular focus on cybersecurity, intelligence, and resilience. His most recent book, Security in the Cyber Age: An Introduction to Policy and Technology (2024), explores how states and non-state actors exploit vulnerabilities in cyberspace and proposes strategies to strengthen security and governance. He also serves as Professor and Chair of the National Security Affairs Department at the US Naval War College, where he leads programs on US foreign policy, regional security, and strategy for mid-career and senior officers from the United States and more than 60 partner nations. In addition, he has served on state and national commissions, including the Rhode Island Cybersecurity Commission, and has worked with government, industry, and academia to promote resilience and preparedness.
