Sarah Varney is a special correspondent for PBS NewsHour who covers reproductive and sexual health care, the civil rights of women and girls, and efforts by state governments and the Trump Administration to re-shape family life in the US. She has served as a contributing health reporter for NPR for two decades, and her newspaper and magazine stories have appeared in The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Guardian, the Los Angeles Times, Politico Magazine, and The Caravan. Varney was a '24 Nieman fellow at Harvard University studying the journalistic framing and ethics of abortion coverage, focusing on the intersection of religion, sociology, politics, medicine, and gender.
