Financial Analysis and Valuation in Biotechnology

Dr. Yong Suh teaches coursework on finance for biotechnology at Harvard Extension School and Johns Hopkins University. He is a practicing emergency physician and serves as a Lieutenant Colonel in the Army National Guard. He has advised ARCH Venture Partners on venture-stage health care investments and oversaw health care public equities at Farallon Capital Management. As a health care investment banker with Lehman Brothers and Citigroup, he completed mergers and acquisitions and initial public offering (IPO) transactions for biopharmaceutical companies. He began his business career as a strategy consultant at Oliver Wyman and advised banks, insurance companies, and stock exchanges across Europe and Asia. Prior to his business career, he worked as a research fellow at the National Institutes of Health and his published biomedical research portfolio encompasses comparative effectiveness research, genomics, protein biochemistry, and calcium signal transduction. He received his MD from Johns Hopkins and completed a residency in emergency medicine at the University of Chicago. Prior to his medical training, he completed both an MBA and an MSc by research in pharmacology at the University of Oxford, where he studied as a Marshall Scholar. He was previously an elected Term Member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
