Financial Accounting

Professor Michael F. Ruff is Associate Teaching Professor, Accounting, at Northeastern University's D'Amore-McKim School of Business, where he teaches a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses. His primary research interests include behavioral accounting, accounting ethics, and accounting education. He holds a BS from the Pennsylvania State University, an MBA from the Boston University Questrom Graduate School of Business, and a PhD in accounting from the Bentley University McCallum Graduate School of Business. Prior to joining Northeastern, Ruff taught full-time and part-time accounting and business courses at Boston University, Bentley University, Regis College, and Clark University. His teaching experiences include traditional classroom settings, as well as executive education, distance education, and course offerings to a variety of specialized populations including adult learners, financial services professionals, military officers, health care professionals, and incarcerated inmates. His professional experiences include over twenty-five years of accounting, management advising, and financial management experience, primarily in the academic, health care, and nonprofit sectors. He is an active member of the American Accounting Association, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (CPA), the Massachusetts Society of CPAs, and the Institute of Management Accountants Greater Boston Chapter. He also holds an active CPA license in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, CGMA (Chartered Global Management Accountant) from the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and CMA (Certified Management Accountant) from the Institute of Management Accountants certifications.
