Deliberative Justice: The Theory and Practice of Good Citizenship

Dr. Sergio Imparato is a Lecturer in Government and the Assistant Director of Undergraduate Studies in the Government Department. His research focuses on ethical dilemmas in social justice, biotechnology and entrepreneurship, the development of ideas and traditions in American foreign relations, and the ethics and politics of executive power in advanced democracies. He is the author of The Sovereign President (Pisa University Press, 2015; in Italian), a study on the ethics and politics of presidential leadership in foreign affairs. He is currently working on a book project on the Ethics of Giftedness, an analysis of the moral duties that stem from natural talent. While at Harvard University, Imparato won a teaching award for every year he taught at Harvard College, and was chosen twice among the 12 best professors at Harvard to give a lecture at "Harvard Lectures that Last." He is the recipient of the Harvard Certificate of Distinction in Teaching, the Harvard Certificate of Teaching Excellence, and the Dean's Commendation for Distinguished Teaching Performance. Before joining Harvard, Imparato was a visiting graduate student at the University of Cambridge and a parliamentary assistant stagiare at the European Parliament.
