Cybersecurity Precapstone

Heather Hinton has extensive experience in information and cybersecurity, including security architecture, product design and go-to-market, secure development and operations, security and privacy by design, cloud security, governance, risk, and compliance, including roles as the chief information security officer (CISO) at PagerDuty, RingCentral, and IBM Cloud and Cognitive Software. She advises start-ups and early stage companies including DarkSail, Astrix, Akeyless, Tiltan, CloudRaxak, Stack Identity, and Toopher. As a CISO, Hinton had global responsibility for all aspects of security, privacy, and risk in support of product, customer, and corporate security postures. Hinton has led the building of corporate risk and governance and information security organizations to provide data protection, privacy, security, and risk management guidance and creation and maturation of teams to support these disciplines. As an IBM Distinguished Engineer, Hinton helped lead IBM's early cloud offerings and strategy. Hinton has over 75 published patents in various areas of computer security, including identity management, federated identity management, mobile security, governance, and security assessments. She has published articles and conference presentations including formal methods, emergency properties, micropayments, single sign-on, and federated identity. She has held academic appointments at Toronto Metropolitan University and the University of Toronto. Hinton has PhD in electrical and computer engineering from the University of Toronto.
