Academic Writing and Critical Reading

Dr. Geraldine Grimm (PhD, Harvard University) has 40 years of university teaching experience. Currently, she is a Lecturer in German at Boston College, where she was awarded their Affordable Course Materials Initiative Grant. At Harvard, she teaches advanced theological German (fall 2026) at the Divinity School and expository writing at the Extension School, winning the James E. Conway Award for Excellence in Teaching Writing. In 2025, she was recognized as a Twenty-Five Year Honorand at the Harvard Extension School. Not only a 17-time recipient of the Derek Bok Certificate of Distinction in Teaching in the Department of Germanic Languages and Literatures at Harvard College, she was also a three-time nominee (2003, 2005, and 2006) of the distinguished Levinson Award for Excellence in Teaching at Harvard University. Previously, Grimm taught German courses in the Harvard Summer School, Boston University, Suffolk University, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and spent 18 years at Tufts lecturing on German language, literature and culture.
