This course prepares students for the culminating capstone experience by strengthening their research skills, project design capacity, and academic writing. Through a practitioner-researcher framework that integrates scholarly inquiry with professional practice, candidates identify a significant problem of practice grounded in their teaching context and develop a research-informed instructional design proposal to address it.

Prerequisites

Registration is limited to officially admitted degree candidates for the Master of Liberal Arts, mathematics for teaching candidates in their penultimate semester. Prospective candidates and students with pending admission applications are not eligible. Candidates must be in good academic standing and in the process of successfully completing all degree requirements. Candidates must enroll in the capstone, MATH E-599, in the upcoming spring term as their one-and-only final course (no other course registration is allowed simultaneously with the capstone). Candidates who do not meet these requirements are dropped from the course.

This course meets via web conference. Students must attend and participate at the scheduled meeting time. See minimum technology requirements.
