Harvard Extension School
MGMT E-7550
Section 1
CRN 17557
Few human activities command as much global attention—or financial power—as sports. Yet despite its visibility, the business of sports is often misunderstood. This course examines the sports industry across key dimensions: economic scale, historical development, organizational models, and emerging trends. Sports is not a single industry but a convergence activities and sectors including professional and amateur leagues, media companies, talent and management, real estate and public partnerships, and technology. This active learning weekend course explores how professional and amateur sports are financed, governed, marketed, and valued in the US and abroad. Key themes are brought to life through practical case studies.
