Corporate Finance

A native of Poland, Monika Sywak studied undergraduate marketing at the University of Connecticut and earned MBA and doctorate degrees in finance from Sacred Heart University, Welch School of Business. Her credentials include 18 years of industry experience with progressive responsibilities at US Trust and GE Capital in the areas of risk management, regulatory oversight, and wealth management, as well as team development and training. Her academic experience includes teaching graduate and undergraduate finance courses at Quinnipiac University, Sacred Heart University, Caldwell University, and currently at Villanova University, School of Business. Sywak's research focuses on financial markets, financial risk, and financial policy analysis. She has presented her research at conferences and invited presentations both domestically and internationally, and her presentation, The Interplay between Commodity Future Prices and Exchange Rates, received a Paper Recognition Award at International Conference in Finance in 2016. Her great passion and commitment outside of work is helping educate children 7,000 miles away in an impoverished rural area of India, as a founder of the nonprofit foundation raising funds to provide these children with a proper learning environment, most recently supporting school building expansions. Her favorite activities include travelling, skiing, and long walks with her German Shepherd girl.
