This course provides students with a foundation in American Sign Language (ASL), focusing on the development of basic communication skills. Students learn fundamental vocabulary, grammar, and sentence structures, as well as the cultural context of ASL and the Deaf community. Through interactive practice, students engage in conversations about everyday topics such as introductions, family, and daily routines. The course emphasizes receptive and expressive skills, visual-gestural communication, and non-manual signals.
